Just how popular – and lucrative – has the World Poker Tour (WPT) become? We’ll probably get a good indication beginning as early as Father’s Day as WPT-licensed merchandise begins to hit the market.

The World Poker Tour, which was catapulted into the nation’s psyche by the Travel Channel, has signed its first wave of license agreements as part of a massive brand licensing campaign. The WPT partners include:

• Unites State Playing Card Company, which will produce a complete set of WPT playing cards and chip sets.

• JAKKS Pacific, a leading toy, writing instrument and leisure product company, will market a WPT TV games line of plug in and play video games.

• ODM, a manufacturer of lifestyle T-shirts, will sell a line of WPT-themed shirts.

• MDI Entertainment, a company that creates state lottery games, has signed on to create a WPT Texas Hold ‘em scratch-off lottery game.

• G-III Apparel, a marketer and designer of designer and sports league clothing, will design WPT casual sportswear including jackets and jerseys.
